What is Clean Beauty?

Here is a guide to Clean Beauty.

Clean Beauty is exactly what it sounds like, but to break it down for you in simple terms—Clean beauty is defined by products that are mindfully made. Meaning it’s safe for you and the environment. Harmful chemicals should not be used when creating or producing the product. Clean beauty products use ethically sourced ingredients and are made with health, well-being, and the environment in mind.

Clean Beauty—Ingredients to Avoid

There are TONS of toxic ingredients in skincare, wellness, and beauty products, but these are the most common ingredients to look out for:

1) Parabens—These are essentially preservatives that prevent mold and bacteria from growing in your beauty and skincare products. Studies have shown that parabens are linked to reproductive organ harm, thyroid disruption, hormone-related cancer, and obesity.

2) Fragrances—These are used to disguise the smell of harsh chemicals. If there’s fragrance, usually there’s something bad to cover up!

3) Phthalates—These chemicals are used to keep beauty products flexible. You’ll typically see these in nail polish, hairspray, and plastic. Phthalates have been linked to reproductive and hormonal harm in both women and men.

4) Ethoxylated agents—PEG’s and Sulfates are synthetic harsh cleansers that strip your hair and body of its natural oils.
